Blizzard Undefined
The snow drifted calmly down from the sky, ascending onto the parking lot in a blanket of frost. The refraction of light brang a glow to the night, the world no longer covered in a silent darkness but now a suffocating brightness.
But do not be mistaken. It was not light out. The sun had set hours ago the stars were nowhere to be seen among the cotton clouds. But it was bright. The streetlights and restaurant signs illuminated the snowbanks while cars driven by evening travelers seemed to make every snowflake fly into focus.
The world was grey for the snow was white and the night sky was black.
Soon the snowflakes came not dancing down but instead flocked to the pavement like a rushing mob. If one would only stop to watch snowflakes illuminated by the light, one could see the airflow that could not be felt. Currents pushed flakes back into the air, making them relive the last seconds of their airborne journey once again.
And the snowflakes piled and piled and piled. The roads became packed with snow as there were not enough cars out in weather like this to whisk it away. Lanes were not even a suggestion as not a single marking could be made out beneath the frosty path. The driveway was no better. Where the edge was, none of us knew, and a guess would have to be made the next day when the snow was being cleared.
The snowflakes illuminated by our post near the end of the street made it appear foggy, and overall the world felt undefined. There were no edges, no objects, no people. Only suggestions of locations and a white wintery haze covering it all.
